Some forthcoming smartphones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have formerly gone through Geekbench – the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 and S23 Ultra, for illustration. When they did it, the standard reported the following frequentness for the three clusters3.36 GHz Prime core,2.80 GHz Performance cores and2.02 GHz effectiveness cores.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 utilized by Samsung could have an overclocked GPU
There are plenitude of forthcoming smartphones that will feature the 8 Gen 2 chipset. And we ’ve seen marks from some of those too,e.g. the vivo X90 Pro and iQOO 11. But look nearly – the frequence of the Prime core on those is listed as3.19 GHz.
A many days ago Ice Universe said that the European interpretation will use an “ exclusive high- frequence interpretation ” of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. still, the marks we ’ve seen so far came from the US models, so this is presumably a global thing rather than a Europe-only thing.
Now the leakster adds further detail – the Prime CPU core will indeed be clocked at3.36 GHz rather of3.2 GHz. But also the GPU will run briskly too – 719 MHz, over from 680 MHz.
Qualcomm has sometimes released “ AC Qualcomm has sometimes released “ AC ” performances that run at advanced timepieces than the base chip. For illustration, the Snapdragon 855 has a model number SM8150, the SM8150- AC is the 855, which boosted the Prime core from2.84 GHz to2.96 GHz. The 8 Gen 2 that was blazoned this week is the SM8550- AB, so this should be the SM8550- AC.
It’s not clear whether this chip that’s bound for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or commodity differently. But it seems that Qualcomm and TSMC set up enough headroom for a decent overclock.
Sanctioned figures from Qualcomm claim that the 8 Gen 2 CPU is 35 faster than its 8 Gen 1 counterpart, the GPU is 25 faster. Given the overclock to both, this new interpretation of the chip should be indeed briskly. It’s hard to tell how important briskly, however, as it’s too early to read into standard results.
