Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip Set for October Launch: Key Features and Performance Expectations

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, featuring the Oryon CPU will be announced by Qualcomm on October 22 during the Snapdragon Summit which is going to take place from October 21 through to October. It was initially believed to be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4; however, it is now reported to wear the new name of Snapdragon 8 Elite.

All About the Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip

Recently Qualcomm released a teaser video on Weibo confirming the next-generation flagship mobile platform as its new Oryon CPU mobile chip and the launch date. The video also featured the chip on the OnePlus 13-like prototype phone.

In a separate Weibo post, leaker DCS mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has “officially been renamed to Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition.” However, there has been no official confirmation of this name change in Qualcomm’s communications. It could be a mistranslation, or it might also suggest the arrival of two versions of the upcoming Snapdragon flagship two — the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite (or maybe it will be the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition) has not been formally confirmed at this point but should be announced soon. It also previously rolled out parts so indicating the name change which originally came from Digital Chat Station when promos for devices like ten Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 13 were initially spotted by them.

Initial reports claim that the Snapdragon 8 Elite will offer two peaks clocked at 4.0 GHz and six others running at 2.8 GHz. Benchmark leaks suggest a 35% improvement in single-core performance and a 30% boost in multi-core performance compared to the 8 Gen 3, and it will be built using TSMC’s 3nm process.

This chip is expected to power several upcoming devices, including the Xiaomi 15 series, OnePlus 13, and Realme GT 7 Pro, among others. One of the key highlights of this new chip is the Oryon CPU, which promises significant performance enhancements.
