Skyesports, a prominent Esports tournament organizer in India, has joined forces with Mobile Global Esports Inc. MOGO, a collegiate Esports platform, to organize the largest collegiate Esports tournaments in the country. The ‘MOGO National Championship’, which offers a prize pool exceeding INR 10 lakhs, will reach its peak during the LAN Finals. Skyesports will host these finals at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Punjab, India, from September 18 to 22.

The MOGO National Championship aims to connect traditional sports and Esports, with a focus on competitive gaming in collegiate events. After intense qualifying rounds held at national colleges, 16 teams will face off in the Valorant tournament at the grand LAN Finals, which will take place in a state-of-the-art 2,000-seat arena at LPU. This event seeks to bridge the gap between different sports and promote Esports in the college community.
Shiva Nandy, the Founder and CEO of Skyesports, emphasized the significance of fostering talent and promoting Esports at the collegiate level through a strong ecosystem. He expressed his enthusiasm for the MOGO National Championship, which aims to reach major colleges across India and culminate in a LAN Finale held at LPU. The MOGO National Championship featured a rigorous qualifiers stage, with over 100 teams registering to compete in the event. The qualifiers were split into four divisions: West, South, North, and Central to ensure regional penetration across Indian colleges. The 16 qualified colleges will be competing across a single-elimination bracket to determine the champions with the winners of the LAN finals being rewarded with INR 4 lakhs in prize money.

According to the “Windows of Opportunity” report on India’s Media and Entertainment industry by FICCI-EY, Esports teams in India grew by 10%, from 100,000 in 2021 to 110,000 in 2022, and they are estimated to reach 125,000 in 2023. This partnership between Skyesports and MOGO to host one of India’s biggest Esports tournaments at the collegiate level will provide aspiring teams the perfect platform to make a name for themselves in the Indian Esports community.
