The production for ‘Singham Again,’ featuring Ajay Devgn, commenced on Saturday, as director Rohit Shetty made the announcement. This film serves as a sequel to ‘Singham Returns’ and is an integral part of the director’s new ‘Cop Universe.’ It represents the third installment of the Ajay Devgn-starrer series.
The Upcoming Addition to The Cop Universe: Singham Again
Sharing the commencement of filming on Instagram, the ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’ director penned, “‘Singham,’ ‘Singham Returns,’ ‘Simmba,’ ‘Sooryavanshi’… 12 years ago when we made ‘Singham,’ we never thought that it would turn into a Cop Universe! Today, we begin filming Singham Again… the 5th film in our cop franchise.” He earnestly requested the audience’s support, concluding his post with, “ISME HUM APNI JAAN LAGA DENGE! BAS AAPKE PYAAR AUR DUA KI ZAROORAT HAI! (For this, we will spend our flesh and blood, we need your love and blessings to complete this venture).”
To mark the project’s initiation, the director conducted a pooja ceremony, attended by actors Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, at his studio. Rohit Shetty lit the ceremonial diya and offered prayers to Lord Shiva, seeking blessings for his film. Ajay Devgn, reprising his role as the supercop, posted a picture on his X account (formerly Twitter) and expressed, “12 years ago, we gave Indian Cinema its biggest cinematic Cop Universe. With all the love we have received over the years, the force got stronger and the Singham family got bigger.
Today we come together to take our franchise ahead with ‘Singham Again’.” Ranveer Singh, who portrayed Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe and was present at the inaugural ceremony, shared a picture on Instagram offering prayers. He captioned it, “All set to reprise one of my most loved characters from the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe – SIMMBA in #SinghamAgain! We seek your love and blessings for our new journey.”
Akshay Kumar, though currently abroad and unable to attend the ceremony, is also expected to appear in the film. He shared his well-wishes on his X account, saying, “Not in the country at the moment, missing from the frame in person but totally there in spirit. Can’t wait to join you guys on the sets of #SinghamAgain! Sending my best wishes. Jai Mahakaal!” ‘Singham Again’ marks the fifth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, also known as the Cop Cinematic Universe, following ‘Singham,’ ‘Singham Returns,’ ‘Simmba,’ and ‘Sooryavanshi.’ The movie also features Deepika Padukone and Jackie Shroff, with Arjun Kapoor reportedly joining the cast.
