In 2022, the world is already witnessing a lot of things including war, massive outage and a lot more, however, the demand for semiconductors remain the same or say is increasing exponentially. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has announced the global semiconductor industry sales in January 2022 will be $50.7 billion.
The staggering sales figures go to show the increasing demand for chips across the globe and there’s a sales increase of 26.8% from $40 billion in January 2021 but compared to December 2021’s $50.9 billion you see a minor decrease of 0.2%.
SIA President and CEO John Neuffer said, “Following record sales and shipments in 2021, global semiconductor sales remain strong in early 2022, reaching the second-highest monthly sales on record in January.”
“Global semiconductor sales in January increased by more than 20% year-on-year for the tenth consecutive month, with sales in the Americas increasing by 40.2% year-on-year, leading all regional markets.” John Neuffer said.
