Gujarat Titans’ top-order once again showcased its consistency, as Sai Sudharsan (48 off 23), Shubman Gill (76 off 38), and Jos Buttler (64 off 37) powered their team to a formidable 224/6. Their bowlers, spearheaded by a disciplined Prasidh Krishna, then restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 186/6, securing a 38-run victory that propelled GT to second place in the standings.
GT seized control of the game in the powerplay and through Prasidh’s impactful spell. The openers went on the attack from the outset, smashing boundaries en route to the team’s highest-ever powerplay score of 82 — also a record in Ahmedabad. In contrast, SRH’s openers attempted to emulate that aggressive start, but GT’s pacers maintained tight lines and lengths, denying access to the batters’ hitting zones. As a result, SRH ended the powerplay 25 runs short of GT’s tally.
Prasidh Krishna then turned the screws in the middle overs with a clever mix of short deliveries and change-ups. He removed Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen and stifled SRH’s momentum, finishing with outstanding figures of 2 for 19 in his four overs. His spell ensured GT maintained control and denied SRH any chance of a late comeback.

Sudharsan, Gill Blaze Through Powerplay to Punish SRH
Gill set the tone in the opening over by flicking Mohammed Shami for a six, igniting Gujarat Titans’ charge in the Powerplay. Although Jaydev Unadkat kept things tight with just five runs in the next over, the Titans quickly shifted gears. Sudharsan showcased his timing and placement by pulling, flicking, and guiding five boundaries off Shami in the third over. Gill then continued the assault by cracking two fours and whipping a six off Pat Cummins, helping GT reach fifty inside just four overs — marking the pair’s sixth 50-plus opening stand of the season.
Sudharsan took charge again in Harshal Patel’s over, smashing four boundaries to collect 18 runs, and Gill followed up by striking two more fours off Unadkat. The duo’s onslaught propelled Gujarat Titans to their highest-ever Powerplay total — also the highest recorded at the Ahmedabad venue.
Gill, Buttler Dominate SRH to Keep GT on Track for Big Total
SRH finally found relief when Zeeshan Ansari deceived Sai Sudharsan with a googly, which the left-hander tried to dab but ended up edging to the keeper for 48. Jos Buttler then stepped up, launching a straight six off Ansari to get his innings underway. In the process, he crossed the 4000-run mark in the IPL, becoming the third quickest (by balls faced) to reach the milestone, as GT surged past 100 in the ninth over.
Buttler maintained the momentum by scooping a six off Shami, who continued to prove expensive. Gill, meanwhile, struck two boundaries to bring up his half-century in just 25 balls. He followed that with two more fours off Kamindu Mendis and added another off Harshal Patel, helping the second-wicket partnership reach the fifty-run mark. Adding to SRH’s frustration, Pat Cummins dropped a catch to give Buttler a life.
However, GT suffered a minor setback when Klaasen, alert behind the stumps, deflected a throw onto the wickets to run out a hesitant Gill after multiple replays confirmed his dismissal. Despite SRH managing to tighten things slightly in the latter part of the middle overs, GT remained in a strong position to post a commanding total.
Buttler’s Quickfire Fifty Lays Foundation for GT’s Strong Finish
After nearly three overs without a boundary, Jos Buttler broke the lull by flat-batting a pull shot for four off Pat Cummins. He followed it up with a six and a four off Zeeshan Ansari in the 17th over, reaching his half-century in just 31 balls during a 16-run over. Buttler then smashed another four and six off Ansari in the 18th, pushing Gujarat Titans past the 200-run mark.
His explosive knock came to an end in the penultimate over when he attempted to clear long-on but only found the fielder off Cummins. Shahrukh Khan wrapped up that over with a powerful six over long-on, keeping the momentum alive. Although Washington Sundar struggled to find fluency, he struck a six off Unadkat before falling for a 16-ball 21. Rahul Tewatia also cleared the ropes once before departing shortly after, and Unadkat capped off the innings by dismissing Rashid Khan on the final delivery. Gujarat Titans finished with an imposing 224 on the board.
GT Regain Control After SRH Openers Fly Out of the Blocks
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head made the most of the width offered by Mohammed Siraj in the opening over, with Abhishek launching a six and Head driving a four. Ishant Sharma tightened things up by bowling to the pads and initially restricted the scoring. However, when he offered room, Abhishek capitalized with a flat six over long-off.
Siraj returned with a more disciplined third over, giving away only eight runs despite Head finding the boundary. In the fourth over, GT’s plans wavered as Head lofted one over mid-off for four and Abhishek followed with a crisp six over cover. Head also managed a four off Prasidh Krishna, but the GT pacer struck back with a well-directed short ball that forced Head into a miscue, which Rashid Khan brilliantly caught in the deep.
Prasidh backed it up with a tight over that conceded just five runs, and Siraj followed with another economical sixth over, giving away only seven. GT successfully applied the brakes after a brisk SRH start, regaining momentum heading into the middle overs.
Abhishek’s Fifty in Vain as GT Maintain Upper Hand
Prasidh Krishna continued to apply pressure with another tight seventh over, giving away just seven runs. Gerald Coetzee, making his debut for Gujarat Titans, started with an 11-run over, but Sunrisers Hyderabad still found themselves under the pump as the required run rate kept climbing. Washington Sundar compounded their problems with a miserly six-run over.
Coetzee then capitalized on the pressure, dismissing a struggling Ishan Kishan, who managed just 13 off 17 deliveries. Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen attempted to shift the momentum by hitting a six each off Rashid Khan, taking SRH to the 100-run mark after 11 overs. The opener brought up his fifty in style, flicking Coetzee over fine-leg for a six off just 28 balls.
He followed it up with a four and a six off Rashid, but Rahul Tewatia’s athleticism on the boundary prevented Klaasen from adding another six—even though he had to toss the ball back in. Prasidh returned with a pinpoint yorker that nearly dismissed Abhishek, who survived due to the umpire’s call on impact, and gave away only four runs in the over.
Although Ishant Sharma was struck for two sixes, he made a strong comeback by removing Abhishek. With the required rate soaring past 17 runs per over, Gujarat Titans tightened their grip on the match.
GT Seal Emphatic Victory with Disciplined Death Bowling
Prasidh Krishna capped off his outstanding spell by conceding just six runs and dismissing Heinrich Klaasen in the 16th over, tightening GT’s grip on the match. Mohammed Siraj then stepped up to remove Aniket Verma and Kamindu Mendis, leaving SRH needing over 25 runs per over in the final three.
Gerald Coetzee gave away 11 in the 17th, but Rashid Khan faced a flurry of big hits in the 18th, as SRH took 21 off the leg-spinner, including three sixes. Ishant Sharma began the final over, conceding just three runs from his first two deliveries before slipping on his follow-through and leaving the field injured.
Sai Kishore completed the over efficiently, not allowing a single boundary, as Gujarat Titans closed out another clinical win. Sunrisers Hyderabad eventually finished at 186, falling 38 runs short of the target.
