## What Happened in Episode 8?

Episode 8, titled *“Depression Diet,”* was a slow-burn emotional gut-punch. Jimmy finally went on a date with Sophie — nudged along by Alice — though Sophie’s personal baggage made things complicated. Meanwhile, **Gaby** continued wrestling with survivor’s guilt after the devastating revelation about Maya’s overdose of alcohol and Xanax, leaving viewers questioning whether it was a suicide or an accident. Liz, after a blowout with Ava, stepped back from Brian and Charlie’s lives — shifting family dynamics in subtle but meaningful ways.

“Every storyline was left deliberately open — a quiet slow-burn that sets the table perfectly for the season’s final act.”

## What to Expect in Episode 9 “Daddy Issues”

The official Apple TV+ synopsis gives us just enough to go on: *Jimmy is stressed out by his father’s presence. Sean grapples with the fallout of his decision. Paul helps Gaby start something new.*

Here’s what that likely means in practice. **Jimmy’s father Randy** (played brilliantly by Jeff Daniels) has been growing more present in his son’s life — and his involvement now directly threatens Jimmy’s evolving relationship with Alice, especially as her college graduation approaches. Expect fireworks. **Sean** faces consequences for a past choice, a thread that’s been quietly building all season. And **Gaby**, after a pause from work encouraged by Paul, may finally find herself ready to take a new step — career or otherwise.
