Shazam 2 was already released in theatres in the United States on 17th March 2023. However, this film was primarily scheduled to hit in April 2022. Later, the theatrical screening was postponed and shifted to 4th November 2022. The COVID-19 pandemic situation is the main reason for the delay.
The film was initially delayed for over a year after a major reshuffling occurred with the pandemic as well as some movies being dropped altogether. The sequel was planned back in 2019 after the great success of the first feature film with Levi and director David F. Sandberg returning.
