Shakhtar Donetsk have won the Ukrainian league title for the 15th time in their history, after being named the winners for the 2023/2024 season. They earned a 1-0 win over Dynamo Kiev to ensure that they sealed the title mathematically.
For manager Marino Pusić, it’s the second league title in a row, after winning the Eredivisie title last season as the assistant manager of Feyenoord. The 52-year-old took charge of the Ukrainian club in October, and has helped them secure the league title in his first season.

After 28 games, Shakhtar have secured 70 points, with Dynamo seven points behind them. There are two games left to play in the season, ensuring that the title is decided.
This is the second straight league title for Shakhtar, who are only one behind matching their rivals Dynamo, who have 16 UPL titles to their name. The Miners have navigated the chaotic last few years quite well, in spite of being forced to sell off several key players.
As a result of the win, they have ensured that they will be a part of the 2024/25 Champions League qualifying playoffs.
