Sergio Reguilon is set to join Brentford on a loan deal until the end of the season from Tottenham. The left-back returned from Manchester United in the middle of the season, with both Like Shaw and Tyrell Malacia back from injury. And in spite of impressing for the Red Devils, he couldn’t retain a place long-term.
Now, he will join the Bees for the second half of the season on a straight loan with no buy option. Which means that the Spaniard will be back at Spurs at the end of the season.
Sergio Reguilon transfer to be announced very soon
Both parties have reached an agreement over the deal, and the player is on his way to complete the medical tests. Once he has passed the assessment, an official statement will confirm his arrival from Spurs.
Brentford are getting a great deal in Sergio Reguilon, as he has experience of playing at the top level. His time at Sevilla and Atletico Madrid showed that he has what it takes to play at a high enough level. But he wasn’t included in Ange Postecoglou’s plans since the start of the season, causing another season of loan moves.
With Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry suffering from injuries, Reguilon is a perfect replacement until the end of the season. With his contract running until 2025, he could make a permanent move in the coming summer transfer window. But he will need regular game time to get a top club to sign him.
