The latest Sergio Ramos transfer news after his PSG exit is confirmed.
Sergio Ramos has confirmed that he will be leaving PSG at the end of his contract next month. His departure has also been confirmed by the French side on their official social media profiles.
The centre-back spent two years in the French capital, after signing for them from Real Madrid in 2021. He struggled with injuries for a significant portion of the last two years, but has made 57 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain during this time. Ramos helped the team win the Ligue 1 title in both of his seasons with the club, but was unable to guide them to the Champions League title like he did for Real Madrid so many times.
“Tomorrow I will say goodbye to another stage of my life, goodbye to PSG. I don’t know in how many places one can feel at home, but without a doubt PSG and the fans and Paris were one of them for me”, an official statement from Sergio Ramos revealed.
“Thank you for two special years in which I was able to play in every tournament and give my all. I will face new challenges, I will wear other colours, but first, and for the last time: Allez Paris!”, he added in the statement.
Sergio Ramos transfer news: Where does he go next?
Like many veterans of the sport, an offer from Saudi Arabia has arrived for Ramos as well. But, he has not decided on his next club as of yet. The defender will weigh up his options in the coming weeks and make a decision after considering his family and priorities at this stage of life.
His former Real Madrid teammates Karim Benzema and Luka Modric have both been offered a big money deal from the Gulf State. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo is already playing for Al-Nassr on a €200 million contract. As a result, the defender could follow next. But, the race is still open as things stand.
A stay in Europe could be on the cards, but a move to the MLS could also be tempting for the veteran.
Have PSG transfer plans changed?
Following the departure of the Spaniard, it remains to be seen whether PSG will dive into the transfer market to sign a reinforcement. They only have Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe and El Bitshiabu as the natural central defenders in their squad. Milan Skriniar is expected to join the club in the coming weeks, but it remains to be seen whether more names will be added.
Lionel Messi, Neymar and Carlos Soler have all been linked with an exit from the club this summer. While Messi will leave upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the month, PSG might entertain offers from other clubs for the latter.
They are in talks to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid as the replacement for Messi. The negotiations are in advanced stages and could be completed soon, especially after the winger plays his final game for Los Blancos in the coming days.
