Sergio Ramos seems to be on his way out of Madrid now more than ever

Sergio Ramos has less than thirty days remaining on his contract with Real Madrid, and the player seems set to leave the club when July arrives. His demands have been constant, and have not been met by Real Madrid at all.

The club captain has asked for an extension for two years, but club president Florentino Perez was only willing to offer him a one year deal. And the centre-back has not accepted that offer either. Another point of friction is Ramos’ protests against the 10% pay cut that the club has in place.

According to him, Madrid are planning to use the money saved to bring in Kylian Mbappe this summer. The club’s earnings have fallen to a little over €600 million, which is a decline by 30%. The management pays out €448 million of the €617 million earned to over 800 workers, and the absence of matchday revenue has taken away their main source of revenue.

Madrid have implemented the wage reduction across both their first team football and basketball teams. And the upper management are disappointed in Ramos ‘stance against the pay cut.

David Alaba has already been brought in as a replacement for the veteran centre-back. And at 28, he is in the prime of his abilities and could play at the top level for the next four to five years at the very least. PSG are the only club to have made contact with his agents regarding the contract situation, and it it yet unclear where he will end up next.
