We are very familiar with the sight of seeing Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi in a heated situation as they led their clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. But things can take a quick turn and both the club captains have signed for PSG on a free transfer this summer.
Ramos and Messi started together for the first time in their career on 28th November as they beat Saint Etienne by 3-1. Messi provided a hattrick of assists as Ramos showed solidity in defence.
Now, Sergio Ramos has backed his old rival and current PSG teammate Lionel Messi to win the Ballon d’Or 2021 award. This was an impossible thing to think about just last year!

Ramos told ESPN: ‘Yes, of course [I hope he wins].’
‘I’m going to defend the guys in my team. I wish him all the luck in the world.
‘He’s in good shape, and I think he’s the kind of player who really makes a difference. He’s a unique player and it’s a privilege to have him in the team.
‘I think that bit by bit, each of us is going to bring our own quality to make Paris Saint-Germain even greater and achieve the things we want to achieve.’
The Argentine has scored 38 goals in 47 games last season as he guided Barcelona to the Copa del Rey trophy before helping Argentina to win the Copa America 2021. He has scored four goals and provided three assists in 11 matches for PSG this season.
His main rival will be Bayern Munich’s, Robert Lewandowski, who has been sensational for the last two years. It will be interesting to see whether Lionel Messi wins his seventh Ballon d’Or award or Lewandowski wins his first.
