Sergio Busquets has confirmed his decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the season. The club has confirmed their captain’s decision with an official statement.
The 34-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation, having paired with Xavi and Iniesta when they were at the club. He has also been part of the transition into the new generation, but his time at the club is now up.

Busquets has been at the club since he graduated from the La Masia academy, and has won everything there is to win. He has also represented Spain at the national level, and has also captained La Roja.
“It has been an honour, a draw and a source of pride to have been able to wear this badge but everything must come to an end,” he said in the announcement video.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision but the time has come. I thank all those people who have accompanied me on this journey, as well as the members and fans.”
It now appears like Sergio Busquets could be headed to Saudi Arabia, with an agreement seemingly close. He has also received proposals from MLS clubs, but is likely to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season.
