Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has been a target for MLS clubs for years. However, he has turned down proposals from the clubs, and is prioritising a stay at Camp Nou over a move to the United States. That said, he hasn’t ruled out a move to the MLS completely.
David Beckham’s Inter Miami are going to try to sign the player this year, and he could make the move if there is no agreement with Barcelona.
Sergio Busquets linked with MLS switch
The 33-year-old has been with Barcelona ever since graduating from the La Masia academy in 2008. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. And following the departure of Lionel Messi this past summer, he has been wearing the captain’s armband for the club.
Sergio Busquets has won everything there is to win for club and country, winning the World Cup in 2010 with Spain and the subsequent Euros as well. With Barcelona, he is a 3-time Champions League winner, and has also lifted the La Liga trophy with the Blaugrana alongside the Copa del Rey.
The veteran midfielder is keen to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, but the chances of the Argentinian leaving PSG remain low for the time being.
MLS clubs have been signing some top players recently – such as Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli, Thiago Almada from Velez Sarsfield, and Douglas Costa from Juventus. And soon, Sergio Busquets could join the impressive list of signings.
