Sergio Aguero diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia

Via Sky Sports

Barcelona drew 1-1 with Alaves in Sergi Barjuan’s first game in charge as interim manager. Shortly before half time, Sergio Aguero was substituted, with the player complaining of chest pain. He felt dizzy on the pitch as well, and was replaced by Philippe Coutinho.

The striker was admitted to a hospital and would undergo further tests to determine his condition. According to reports, Aguero has been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia. This is a heart rhythm rate disorder. Further tests will be carried out to confirm the details of his situation.

Aguero is reportedly calm, but also worried about his situation. This is not the first time he is suffering from such an issue. He passed out during a friendly game against Nigeria, and was hospitalised at half time. At the age of 15, Aguero had to undergo heart surgery. Hence, the problem is not completely new.

The striker joined Barcelona as a free agent this summer. He decided to end his stay at Manchester City, after establishing himself as a club legend. His initial few months have been plagued by injuries, and he has been limited to four appearances for Barca. Needless to say, the 33-year-old will not be available for Barcelona’s midweek Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev.

One can only hope that Aguero returns to full fitness soon, and can play for Barcelona consistently.
