Roberto played across a multitude of positions, sometimes as a right-back, sometimes as a central midfielder and even a winger when needed. His presence was important in the dressing room under Xavi Hernandez, establishing a leadership role and keeping ties with the club’s history and culture.
All in all, Sergi Roberto made 373 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 19 goals and providing 43 assists across all competitions. Now, he is considering a move to Fiorentina or Ajax in what will be the next chapter of his career.
He will be given an official farewell by the club today, August 12, 2024. Barcelona might turn to Jules Kounde to play another season at right-back, with the departure of Roberto leaving the club short-staffed in that position.
