The sequel is also expected to go back in time. It reportedly explores Senapathy’s backstory and introduces his father, Veerasekaran Balram, who is also played by Kamal Haasan. That makes it an epic period drama as well as a finale.

## Why the Wait Felt So Long?

Indian 2 got a lukewarm response from both critics and audiences, which cast doubt on the sequel’s future. This fresh update suggests the project is back on track.

The cast of Indian 2 included Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Vivek, though who returns for the third film hasn’t been confirmed.
