### What Happens in Episode 5?

Episode 5 centres around Shyanne’s Vegas wedding with her boyfriend Kenny, opening with the whole family making their way to the casino city. Shyanne was excited for her big day and wanted all eyes on her — inviting Jinx along as a manny for baby Bodhi to make sure Margo isn’t distracted.

Vegas, in all its artificial excess, becomes the perfect location for the dissonance between these characters — particularly as Shyanne continues to allow Kenny to shape a version of her that aligns with his conservative, church-going values. Things get wonderfully chaotic when Shyanne drags Margo and Jinx out for an unplanned bachelorette party — sneaking baby Bodhi into a bar and all.

### The Confession That Changes Everything

The emotional gut-punch comes during a quiet mother-daughter moment. As Shyanne opens up about whether she’s ever been a good enough mother, Margo confesses that she’s been earning money through OnlyFans. The revelation leaves Shyanne stunned — she refuses to accept it and starts a fierce row with her daughter, and the two part ways without resolving the matter.

Fanning said Shyanne’s reaction was even bigger than the one Margo had been bracing herself for — but despite the brutal falling-out, Margo still shows up to the wedding and delivers a heartfelt toast, because as Fanning put it, “if it’s an important day for another family member, you have to show up.” [TheWrap](https://www.thewrap.com/creative-content/tv-shows/margos-got-money-troubles-episode-5-elle-fanning-michelle-pfeiffer-interview/)

This is what makes *Margo’s Got Money Troubles* so compelling — it’s a show that understands that real families fight hard and love harder.

### Kenny’s Unexpectedly Moving Moment

When Kenny can’t find a tie for the wedding, he confesses to Margo that he’s spent his life in service to others — first his parents, then the church — and Kinnear delivers the moment with devastating vulnerability, his voice breaking as he describes walking into a shop and feeling his future crack open, a life suddenly full of possibilities he thought he’d missed. [Nexus Point News](https://nexuspointnews.com/review-margos-got-money-troubles-episode-5/)

It’s a scene that completely reframes Kenny as someone adrift rather than just a milquetoast sidekick — and Kinnear earns every second of it.

The series is a sharp, funny, emotionally layered take on modern life — rooted in the tradition of [tragicomedy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragicomedy), a genre that blends humour and heartbreak in equal measure.

### The Jinx-Shyanne Spark

Shyanne and Jinx share some illicit memories at the bar, surfacing a wave of unresolved feelings. Pfeiffer described their dynamic as two people who were chemically drawn to each other — and noted that Shyanne resents how Jinx gets to sweep in as the hero while she’s the one who held everything together. It’s one of the richest undercurrents of the whole season. [TheWrap](https://www.thewrap.com/creative-content/tv-shows/margos-got-money-troubles-episode-5-elle-fanning-michelle-pfeiffer-interview/)
