## A Simple Backup Drive

The [Seagate Expansion](https://technosports.co.in/tag/seagate-expansion/) is a slim portable hard drive for photos, movies, music and documents. It is powered through USB 3.0, so there is no separate power adapter, and you can save files by dragging and dropping them.

The listing says Windows and Mac computers recognise it automatically, though you need to reformat it to use it with Time Machine. A traditional [hard disk drive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_disk_drive) is slower than an SSD but costs far less per terabyte.

## Data Recovery and Reviews

The drive includes a 3-year Rescue Data Recovery Services plan from Seagate. Read the terms on the product page to see what is covered and how to claim.

It is a best seller in external hard disks with more than 33,000 ratings, and 3K+ bought in the past month. That volume of feedback is useful, so scan the most recent reviews for any reliability complaints.

## Who Should Buy It, and Who Should Skip

It suits students and families who want cheap, large storage for backups, photos and videos. Skip it if you need fast transfers for video editing, a drive that survives drops, or if you only carry small files that fit on a pen drive.

## What Is Not Confirmed

These points are **not confirmed** from the listing alone:

- Transfer speeds in everyday use.
- Long-term reliability, since all hard drives can fail.
- How long the price will last, since [Amazon deals](https://technosports.co.in/tag/seagate-expansion/) can end or change without notice.
- The exact terms of the 10% bank discount, such as eligible cards, minimum spend and any cap on the discount.
