Comedy nerds, mark your calendars. Second City Television, better known as SCTV, is landing on Netflix for the very first time — and it’s bringing its entire six-season run with it. The legendary sketch show that launched Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, and John Candy into stardom will hit the platform on September 1st across multiple regions, including the US and UK.

Originally airing from 1976 to 1984, SCTV was set at a fictional, low-budget TV station in the town of Melonville. It grew out of the Toronto branch of the famed Second City improv troupe and became one of the most influential launchpads in comedy history. Netflix has reportedly acquired the rights to all 135 episodes.

Earlier in the year, Prime Video secured exclusive Canadian rights to SCTV, leading many to assume it had locked up global streaming rights entirely. SCTV alumni have quietly been all over Netflix for years. Catherine O’Hara starred in Pain Hustlers and A Series of Unfortunate Events; Martin Short headlined the comedy special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life; and Eugene Levy found a whole new generation of fans through Schitt’s Creek.
