Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Saul Niguez. The transfer has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, and the player will be in London soon to complete the formalities before being announced as a new player for the European Champions.
The player will join the Blues on a loan deal worth €5 million, and will have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the spell. Patience was key for the London club, as they had to wait until the deadline day to get the deal done and they now have extra midfield cover in the form of one of the best midfielders in the world.
Saul was keen to leave Atletico Madrid in favour of new challenges, and the Rojiblancos signed Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese as a replacement. They have now managed to negotiate a transfer for the wantaway 26-year-old, who could take up an important role under Thomas Tuchel as the German coach hopes to challenge for the Premier League alongside three other major trophies.
The midfielder was linked with a swap deal to Barcelona involving Antoine Griezmann going the other way. However, talks with Barcelona fell through and the player is now on his way to London to make the loan deal official.
Chelsea are also in pursuit of Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, and could yet seal the transfer of the French defender with the sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham United completed in the previous days.
