She walks in bridal red. She smiles with quiet grace. And something is terribly, deeply wrong. Sanya Malhotra’s first look as **Sonam** in Prime Video’s upcoming romantic thriller **Sundar Poonam** has arrived — and it’s the calm before a very deadly storm, with fans already drawing comparisons to SRK’s iconic role in *Baazigar*. ## **What Is Sundar Poonam About?**

The film follows **Sonam**, a newlywed bride whose obsessive love story leads to a deadly spiral for an innocent man’s life — inspired by the real Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, also known as the Sonam and Raja case, which took place in June 2025. As per the actual investigation, Raja Raghuvanshi — an Indore-based transport businessman — was killed by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. His body was found after being thrown off a deep gorge, discovered by police.

The fact that the film begins exactly where most love stories end — the wedding — is already a masterstroke of psychological horror. The teaser shows Sanya Malhotra draped in a striking bridal lehenga with an air of quiet grace that truly captures the calm before the storm. That stillness? That’s the most dangerous kind.

## **Sanya Malhotra’s Most Fearless Role Yet**–

Fans reacted instantly to the teaser — one user wrote: “SOOOO EXCITED to watch Sanya Malhotra in a negative role! A talented actor,” while another added: “Omgggggg, I can already tell you killed it.”

Many viewers were quick to compare the energy to SRK’s *Baazigar*, with one reaction reading: “Why am I getting SRK’s Baazigar vibe from you? Can’t wait to see you in this.”

Director **Pulkit** — whose *Bhakshak* starring Bhumi Pednekar was one of the most acclaimed true-crime dramas on Netflix — brings exactly the right sensibility for this kind of story: restrained, uncomfortable, morally complex. Paired with Sanya’s extraordinary emotional range and **Aditya Rawal’s** quiet intensity, this is a team that understands how to make true crime feel genuinely human and haunting.
