Sania Mirza, who needs no introduction finally ended her eminent Tennis Career on Friday after she lost the Australian Open Mixed Doubled Final. Brazilian players Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos defeated the Indian pair Sania and Rohan Matos 7-6 and 6-7. Sania congratulated the winners and started talking about her journey and couldn’t hold back her tears. Previously, she announced that she will be ending her career with the Australian Open 2023.

After she began talking, she had to take pause and burst out crying. It was an emotional moment for the fans and the entire nation to see the legend at the last stage of her career.

“My professional career started in Melbourne… I couldn’t think of a better arena to finish my [Grand Slam] career at. Rod Laver Arena has been special. Never thought I’d be able to play in a Grand Slam final, in front of my son.” she added.

She was World No.1 for 91 weeks at the WTA Doubles in the women’s doubles category. She put up a great with Bopana but couldn’t beat the Brazilian pair. It was the 11th Grand Slam of her career. Mirza has won a total of 43 doubles titles.

In the game, Sania Sania did struggle but looked like she could win the match. The game ended in a loss but she will be playing in the final tournament at WTA 1000 event in Dubai in February 2022.

Sania Mirza started playing Tennis when she was just six. She’s also the first Indian woman to win the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title. Her first international match was in 1999 when she represented India at the World Junior Championship in Jakarta. She has won six grand slam titles. She shared a compilation of notes to express gratitude towards her parents, coach, family, and friends. She mentioned that the main reason for her retirement was her son Ishaan Mirza Malik who needed more of her time.
