Just when you thought the Spider-Man villain lineup was full, Marvel pulled one more grain of sand from the bag. A new comic cover has revealed **Sandman** in the world of Disney+’s *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man*, and fans are already asking whether he’ll make it to the screen.

## The Big Reveal

Marvel Comics unveiled the cover for Issue 2 of the *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* Season 2 tie-in prequel comic. It shows Flint Marko, in his giant sandy form, reaching for the web-slinger. It’s the first look at [Sandman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandman_(Marvel_Comics)) in this version of the Spider-Man universe.

The four-issue comic bridges the gap between seasons, and Season 2 premieres on **January 13, 2027**. The catch: nobody knows yet whether Sandman will actually appear in the show or stay exclusive to the comic.

## Spider-Man Season 2 Villain Lineup

| Villain | Status |
| --- | --- |
| Venom | Confirmed |
| Rhino | Confirmed |
| Lizard | Confirmed |
| Doc Ock | Returning |
| Sandman | Comic cover only (so far) |

Season 1 already gave us Scorpion, Norman Osborn, Doc Ock, and Tombstone, so the show clearly loves a fresh take on classic rogues.

## Sandman Through the Years

Flint Marko has had quite the journey across Spider-Man’s many worlds:

- **Spider-Man 3:** Thomas Haden Church played Marko as a tragic convict desperate to help his sick daughter, Penny.
- **No Way Home:** He returned in his scariest form yet, though Church never actually appeared on set. His voice was recorded separately, and his look came from archive footage.
- **Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2:** A giant Sandman became the game’s opening boss fight, followed by side quests called “Marko’s Memories.”
- **Spider-Noir:** A World War I veteran version of Marko appeared in the now-canceled series.

## Could Sandman Fight Tom Holland Someday?

Church has said he had a lot of conversations about returning, hinting at a more fulfilling story for the character after he was cured in *No Way Home*. But a return would probably need a new Spider-Man film from Sony, like Tobey Maguire’s long-rumored *Spider-Man 4*.

Some fans also expect the Raimi-verse Spider-Man to turn up in *Avengers: Doomsday*, though a cured Marko seems an unlikely ally. Others hope for a brand-new, recast Sandman in a future MCU film, especially since *Brand New Day* leaned more on Jean Grey than on classic villains.
