Sandesh Jhingan has rejoined ATK Mohun Bagan after leaving HNK Sibenik. The centre-back joined the Croatian club this summer, and joined an elite company of Indian footballers to feature in Europe. But, he didn’t play a single game for them due to injury.
Reports indicate that the defender has mutually parted ways with the Croatian club after continuous injury problems. He has now returned to his former ISL club on a short term basis, becoming their first signing of the January window.
Sandesh Jhingan returns to ATK Mohun Bagan
The 28-year-old has earned 36 caps for the Indian national team, and is one of their best defenders. He is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries in the country and will shortly complete the formalities for the transfer.
He has been signed until the end of the season, and might change clubs thereon. Sandesh Jhingan had established a great partnership with Tiri of ATK Mohun Bagan, who had to go off in an ambulance in their previous game against Hyderabad.
While both the centre-backs are out for the upcoming games at least, Juan Ferrando will receive a boost from having two great defenders in his squad. The maroon and green outfit is currently fourth in the table, but only one point behind league leaders Hyderabad.
So, when the defense is back up and running again, Ferrando might be able to mount a title challenge with the squad that he has inherited from Antonio Habas.
