Samsung has recently launched the ViewFinity S9 5K monitor in South Korea, targeting media professionals and creators who require a color-accurate screen for their work. This monitor, which is the successor to last year’s ViewFinity S8, was initially unveiled at the CES 2023 expo in the United States.
Everything about the ViewFinity S9 5K Monitor
The ViewFinity S9 5K monitor is now available for pre-order in South Korea, with a price tag of KRW 1.9 million (approximately $1,457). Customers can start pre-ordering today, and the monitor will be in stores from July 3, 2023. It boasts a 27-inch VA QLED panel with a 5K resolution of 5,120 x 2,880 pixels and a pixel density of 218ppi.
Thanks to its exceptionally high resolution, creators can view and edit 4K images and videos without the need for scaling. Samsung claims that the monitor can accurately reproduce 99% of colors in the DCI-P3 color space and has a peak brightness of up to 600 nits. It also features a height-adjustable stand that allows for screen pivoting and tilting. For added flexibility, it can be used with a VESA mount.
Samsung has paid attention to color accuracy with the ViewFinity S9 5K monitor. In addition to factory color calibration, the company has introduced an easy color calibration feature that enables users to calibrate the monitor’s colors using a smartphone via the SmartThings app. The screen of the ViewFinity S9 has a matte finish, reducing glares and reflections caused by nearby light sources.
The monitor is equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port, supporting display signals and providing up to 90W of power to charge connected devices. It runs on the Tizen operating system and includes audio and video streaming apps. Furthermore, it comes with a remote controller. As an added bonus, the monitor includes a 4K Slim Fit webcam that can be magnetically attached for convenience.
