There was a time when Samsung mocked Apple’s choice to ship the iPhone 12 without a charger. That was in the year 2020. The Galaxy S21 series appeared a few months later, and it, too, did not have a charger.

Since then, Samsung’s flagships, including the rather pricey foldable devices, have come without chargers. Samsung, like Apple, stated that this was about sustainability, but it’s also about profits. Samsung looks to be considering removing chargers from even its most cheap devices.

Mobile stores in Europe have verified that some entry-level Samsung phones would not come with a charger. The Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23, which were launched earlier this week, are on the list. The Galaxy M23 and Galaxy M33 are also expected to be released soon, but no official announcement has yet been made.

Although Samsung hasn’t confirmed this, it’s not impossible to believe that it’s true. It already realises that there won’t be much of a backlash. Customers accept, albeit reluctantly, that they would no longer receive a charger, but it is not a consideration in their decision to purchase a phone.

As a result, Samsung may simply remove the charger from all of its phones, which it may do in the future. This will allow the corporation to raise its profits on these low-cost phones, which already have thin margins.
