Samsung didn’t go into any specifics about when the tri-fold phone would hit the streets, but as this press release demonstrates, the device is on the way. The outlined sketch on the big screen further confirmed its development. Samsung Display had previously presented tri-fold phone prototypes at tech shows like CES with dual concepts, one that folds inward and the other that mimics the Huawei Mate XT, which folds both inward and outward.
It’s yet to be seen which design Samsung will settle on for its tri-fold phone. This updated foldable device is said to cement Samsung’s place in the fiercely frenetic foldable landscape—propelling the firm’s work and sales in a burgeoning part of the market. According to the report, production of the tri-fold phone will begin in the second quarter of this year set for launch in the third quarter of 2025 together with the Z Fold 7, the Z Flip 7, and the Z Flip 7 FE.
Initially, the device will be available in limited quantities, with only 200,000 units expected. Wider availability will depend on the phone’s reception. The device is rumored to have a 9.9 to 10-inch display when unfolded, making it nearly as large as a tablet. The Huawei Mate XT remains the only tri-fold phone currently available, priced at CNY 20,000 (~₹2,34,162) in China.
