At the Display Business Forum 2023 event, Samsung Display’s managing director, Jung Yong-wook, announced plans to produce a bezel-less concept smartphone. And knowing Samsung, that day will not be far away when we see a slew of smartphones with such a display, and while the next generation of Galaxy S phones will not receive this upgrade, it is comforting to know that we will be looking into some very excellent devices in the future.

The CEO discussed how Samsung Display is working on an under-panel camera and a zero-bezel prototype device, with the goal of creating something that will provide users with a seamless experience. It is safe to assume that Samsung intends to use 3D lamination, edge brightness control, and a superior under-panel camera.

All of this will be used to bring the most recent phones with bezel-less displays to market. Of course, it is still something we haven’t seen in the market, and given how the smartphone business progresses, it will be some time before we see this technology.

Another thing to keep in mind is that just because Samsung Display has decided to show off what they are currently working on does not guarantee that we will see it in a finished product. There is always the risk that the project will be abandoned totally, as we have seen in the past, so take this news with a grain of salt.
