Samsung has faced criticism for the prolonged delay in rolling out the One UI 7.0 update for older Galaxy devices. But let us hope for something better with One UI 8.0 based on Android 16 Considering that One UI 7.0 had already been held back by four months, there were fears that the same might happen with One UI 8.0 as well.

Samsung One UI 8.0 Update Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected, Following Delays With One UI 7.0 Rollout

According to dependable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), though, the next significant update might come sooner than anticipated. No schedule has been given, but it indicates that Samsung may not need the 4-6 months after Google finishes rolling out stable Android 16 to large numbers of devices for One UI 8.0 to follow. So, if Google releases the stable build of Android 16 in late Q2 2025, you can expect Samsung to probably release One UI 8.0 sometime in Q3 2025.

If this timeline stays, then Samsung won’t experience major delays and can deliver a smoother transition to its users. Still, there could be last-minute surprises that affect the rollout schedule. Android 16 will break new ground with a unified photo picker for every app, Health Records, Bluetooth LE Audio for reliable audio sharing, and support for edge-to-edge apps across various screen dimensions. It will also provide better compatibility with vertical text, improved app experiences on foldables and tablets, and Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec.

Google has also introduced advanced camera capabilities with Android 16, including hybrid auto exposure, color temperature adjustments, and color tint settings. Third-party camera apps will now be able to capture Motion Photos, and Ultra HDR (or Super HDR on Samsung devices) is also receiving further improvements. If Samsung can maintain its projected timeline for One UI 8.0, users may not have to endure another extended waiting period for the next major update.
