During his visit to the country, Roh expressed gratitude for the support received from both state and central governments and affirmed Samsung’s commitment to collaborating with the government to further bolster manufacturing activities in India. Highlighting the Noida facility’s importance, he noted that it is the second-largest production base for Samsung globally. While acknowledging potential adjustments at the plant to align with global demand, Roh underscored the unchanged significance of the Noida facility in Samsung’s operations.

In addition to the laptop manufacturing initiative, the South Korean company has recently unveiled its flagship Galaxy S24 series smartphone, placing a significant emphasis on the incorporation of artificial intelligence capabilities in the device. The Noida plant, operational since 1996, has been a crucial manufacturing hub for South Korean company, producing feature phones, smartphones, wearables, and tablets. The imminent addition of laptops to its production portfolio further solidifies the facility’s role in Samsung’s global manufacturing strategy.

Samsung’s commitment to manufacturing in India was underscored in July 2018 when it inaugurated what was then termed the world’s largest mobile factory in Noida. The company had stated that with this new facility, its capacity for mobile phones in Noida would double from 68 million units per year to 120 million units per year. Emphasizing its longstanding partnership with India, the South Korean company positioned itself as the only brand truly made in India, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India‘ initiative.

With its roots in the country dating back to 2007, the company’s Noida facility represents a legacy of manufacturing excellence and a testament to its status as a long-term partner in India’s growth story.
