Samsung is still the boss of the Smart TV market with 20.8 million shipments in 2021

There was a time when Samsung was ruling the android smartphone market with its amazing UI interface and the development of its own SoC. However, then arrived Xiaomi with its cutting edge tech offering amazing cameras at cheap prices. Soon it managed to become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, beating Samsung.

However, when it comes to smart TVs Samsung is the king you don’t want to mess with. Its products are superior and its innovations are out of this world. When it comes to crazy ideas in terms of Smart Tvs Samsung is only second to LG.

There is recently a study conducted by Chinese analysts which explains the ins and outs of the Smart TV market and why Samsung is at the top. According to the study, it was found that 98.3 million TVs were sold in H1 2021 and seeing how the year 2021 went due to the pandemic this figure isn’t very surprising. Samsung outshined all of its competition by shipping nearly 20.8 million smart TVs, which is approximately an 11% increase compared to last year sales of the company.

On the other hand Samsung’s Arch-nemesis in the smart TV segment LG came in second with 13.1 million units shipped. The duo was followed by TCL which sold 11.4 million. And Xiaomi was fifth on the list, followed by the likes of Sony, Phillips and other players.

Xiaomi has recently shifted its focus towards the low-cost smart TV market with a plan to dominate the segment, however, its slide to fifth place is slightly alarming. In the low-cost segment, Xiaomi has to compete with the likes of TCL and Hisense. A little reevaluation in strategy could help propel Xiaomi ahead of Hisense and TCL, but it’s still too far behind in catching up to LG, let alone Samsung, anytime soon.
