Samsung is currently developing two variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, as indicated by the different codenames assigned to these models. While its Galaxy Z Fold 6 has only been on hiatus in stores for a few months, the first echos of Samsung’s new generation of foldables can already be seen creeping over the horizon. The Galaxy Z series will likely grow in 2025.
More About the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
While today we have confirmed that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (codename B7) and Galaxy Z Fold 7 (Q7), are in early development, there is something else cooking under Samsung’s roof related to a new foldable device which has codename Q8. Unfortunately, the “M” means the tipster could not provide a specific model number for these.
There are other rumors out of South Korea that say there are two versions of the Flip as well as a foldable with 3 panels and 2 hinges. It’s not clear if the Q7M is based on this “tri-fold” design or whether that will appear under a completely different codename. What is also clear is that if not yet batter, work on the Q7M has definitely begun.
What’s more, Q7M development is all but concurrent with that of the regular Q7. That suggests a new Fold model isn’t coming until the first part of 2025. The first segment of the year should have much to do with traditional telephones from Samsung, such as those in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56.
Recently, Samsung launched the Fold Special Edition (SE) in South Korea, which is a larger and thinner version of the Z Fold 6 featuring a 200-megapixel camera and lacking S Pen support. Unlike the Fold 6, the Fold SE will only be available in South Korea and China. It remains unclear if the Q7M will be released in other parts of the world.
