Samsung’s next big Unpacked event is scheduled for August 10, and the company has promised to release teasers ahead of the event. Here is one of them, but note that it was obtained unofficially.
The teaser states the mission aim of Samsung’s Z-series – “Flex is increased than Flat”. The online video demonstrates the silhouettes of the two flexibles, the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4, but it’s a “blink and you pass up it” moment.
The finale shows a clear side view of the Z Flip4, which we’ve seen featured in previous teasers. That side view creates a “greater than” label, sandwiched between “Next Galaxy” and “Phones Now.” Samsung also recently released a short video showing a largely automated factory that produces Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) glass for its foldable phones.
It seems the teaser wasn’t due to hit the net until the day itself – it includes the date and “today” at the end. In all honesty though, it’s not like the event or phones have been particularly elusive. Even Samsung executives have been happy to talk about the new Flip and Fold of late.
Samsung’s firm belief that foldables are the future must face the current reality that they are still very expensive. The upcoming convertibles may indeed be more expensive than the current models, at least if the leaked pricing information is correct. Either way, we’re about to see our first reasonably priced foldable.
