Samsung will introduce the Galaxy M56 5G in India on April 17 at 12 PM IST as the successor to the Galaxy M55 5G that made its debut in the country in April 2024. The new smartphone has been teased to be even sleeker, with a number of key upgrades as well. The Galaxy M56 5G has been confirmed by Samsung to become 30% thinner and will maintain the 180g weight of the previous generation despite having a 7.2mm profile.

The handset is indeed launching via the Amazon platform, as stated by an Amazon microsite promoting the phone as the thinnest in its segment. According to promotional material, it is likely to be priced between ₹20,000 and ₹30,000. For reference, the Galaxy M55 5G launched at ₹26,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, ₹29,999 for the 8GB + 256GB, and ₹32,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The Galaxy M56 5G is expected to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, offering 2-metre drop resistance and 4x improved scratch protection compared to the previous model.
It will feature a sAMOLED+ display with Vision Booster, 36% thinner bezels, and a 33% brighter screen than the M55 5G. One of the standout upgrades is the redesigned rear camera module, which now features a vertical pill-shaped island. Inside, the main and ultra-wide cameras sit in a smaller pill-shaped unit, while the macro sensor is placed in a circular cutout below.
The setup includes a 50MP OIS main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro. The phone also supports enhanced night photography and a 12MP HDR front camera. AI features like object eraser and image clipper are also on board. Benchmark listings suggest the phone will be powered by the Exynos 1480 SoC, paired with 8GB RAM, and will run Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI interface.
