Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro vs. Apple AirPods Pro 2: A Comparative Review

Samsung has just taken the wraps off its newest earbuds, which not surprisingly look more than a little similar to what Apple offers with AirPods Pro 2. Seeing as how they are quite similar to one another, we figured why not go ahead and put Samsung’s latest up against the AirPods Pro.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro vs. Apple AirPods Pro 2

Design-wise, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are quite similar to Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 from a distance they look very much like silicon-tipped alternatives. In contrast to the AirPods Pro 2 which usually only comes in white, you can get a pair of Buds 3 Pro either white or gray. The charging case for the Buds 3 Pro also resembles the AirPods’ case but includes a transparent upper section.

Out of the box, the Buds 3 Pro offers impressive sound quality, with the option to further customize the sound using an equalizer, a feature lacking in the AirPods Pro 2. Both the earbuds have Active Noise Cancellation and an “Ambient Mode” for hearing the outside world, which, once again, they are on equal footing at doing.

The Buds 3 Pro lacks the ambient noise detection of AirPods Pro 2. The AirPods Pro 2 shines in this regard, adjusting the sound to fit the ambient noise level for instance when someone near you starts talking; something that Buds 3 Pro is clearly having difficulties mirroring properly.

Additional features of the Buds 3 Pro include a built-in LED light for aesthetics, volume adjustment controls on the stem, and an interpreter mode for translating languages when paired with recent Galaxy phones, although the accuracy of this feature is limited.

While the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and AirPods Pro 2 are remarkably similar, they cater to different ecosystems. The Buds 3 Pro is best suited for Android users, whereas the AirPods Pro 2 integrates seamlessly with Apple devices. Hence, iPhone users may prefer the AirPods, while Samsung users would find the Buds 3 Pro more appealing. Priced at $250, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is on par with the AirPods Pro 2. Pre-orders are currently open ahead of their anticipated launch on July 24.
