Samsung Plans to Focus on Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, Potentially Phasing Out Base Model

Samsung had always unveiled three models in its flagship tablet series, but that could change with the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup. Samsung could be discontinuing the small model, and only launching Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and a tablet named as reported it will be called Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

This move may be partly due to the signal that consumers are not particularly interested in a small-labeled iPad Pro, and for Apple to become more aligned with its own dual model OLED approach taken on the M4 OLED iPad Pro lineup.

More About the Upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

The fresh images of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra seem to indicate that Samsung could resort to only minimal tweaks as well for the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus. A report from Korea further indicates that the base model will not launch alongside the two premium slates, signaling a shift in Samsung’s sales strategy. That said, Samsung is very clearly Apple’s tablet nemesis in the market rankings at this time, which also suggests different segment positioning for both companies.

Apple’s introduction of advanced display technology, such as Tandem OLED in the M4 iPad Pro series, has likely prompted Samsung to reconsider its marketing strategy for the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Samsung may explore alternative marketing approaches, given Apple’s advancements in display technology. One rumor even proposed the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ could power the smaller Galaxy Tab S10 model, as Qualcomm’s chipsets afford little gain for their incremental cost to Samsung in every other decision.

While the Dimensity 9300+ and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 may not match the M4 in terms of raw performance and efficiency, Samsung could leverage the larger displays (12.4-inch and 14.6-inch) and Android platform to appeal to a broader audience. As of now, specific launch dates and pricing details for the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup remain undisclosed.

FAQs

Why is Samsung considering discontinuing the base model of the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup?

Samsung may discontinue the base model due to lower consumer demand compared to the higher-end models like the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. This strategy allows Samsung to focus on more popular and profitable models in its tablet lineup.

What are the expected differences between the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra?

While specific details haven’t been confirmed, typically the Ultra variant would likely feature larger display options, possibly enhanced specifications like more RAM or storage, and potentially additional premium features compared to the Plus model.
