Samsung Exynos W1000 3nm Wearables SoC Official Ahead of Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra Launch

The Exynos 2500 is delayed, probably because Samsung cannot produce a GAA process technology of sufficient yield to use. Even though this fell through, the most valuable player of them all introduced us to its Exynos W1000 which was created around that complex timeline and had come with specifications for impressive power efficiency as well as higher single-core than multi-core performance. Read more on this here.

More About the Samsung Exynos W1000 3nm Wearables SoC

Samsung has also designed an upgraded CPU cluster for the Exynos W100 that will benefit from new features of both the 3nm GAA process and Samsung’s own enhancements. This includes a 1.60GHz Cortex-A78 performance core, as well as four 1.50GHz Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Samsung says the Exynos W1000 can improve single-core performance by up to 3.4 times and multi-core performance by up to 3.7 compared to their predecessor.

This CPU cluster can also deploy certain critical applications up to 270 percent quicker than alternatives, making for a smoother experience in flipping between programs. The Exynos W1000 also offers support for fan-out panel-level packaging (FOPLP) as well as an embedded package on package (ePOP). These technologies are made to achieve an even smaller form factor, optimum heat dissipation, and a sleeker slimmer design.

The new SoC supports a 960 x 540 HD display and LTE Cat. Both the 3G and duos SIM-style of this phone support LTE Cat. 4 modem with a download speed of up to 150Mbps as well as upload speeds of around 75Mbps. For storage, the Exynos W1000 supports up to 32GB of eMMC onboard memory. While eMMC is slower than UFS or NVMe, it likely occupies less space in wearables, which may have influenced Samsung’s choice.

One of the most significant improvements expected from the Exynos W1000 is increased battery life. The upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, which will compete with the Apple Watch Ultra range, will feature a larger battery due to its increased size. Combined with the advanced silicon, this should provide ‘all day’ endurance for the wearable. Hopefully, the new silicon will deliver on its promises when it powers the first wave of Samsung’s smartwatches.
