Samsung is adopting an assertive stance with its products and services, continually enhancing its technology to better compete in the smartphone market. The company is reportedly exploring a new branding strategy that could significantly shift away from its traditional approach. Apparently, the company is even thinking about a dramatically new way to brand that deviates from its norm. This would include potentially renaming its flagship Galaxy-branded phones, which have been around since 2009.

Samsung To Walk Away from Galaxy Branding?

The Galaxy range is best known for the top-of-the-range models, but competition has been more diverse in recent years. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Flip 6 released in July were not considered an application of creative ingenuity, garnering disappointment from users.

Acknowledging its shortcomings, the South Korean tech brand has openly apologized and begun developing new products to address these issues. A South Korean report by E-Today suggests that the company is actually thinking about walking away from Galaxy branding for its top-end phones which probably means both S-series and Z-series handsets.

The re-branding is part of an initiative to set premium models from Samsung against the top-of-the-market products of rivals such as Apple and Google. This shift toward premium branding isn’t unique to Samsung but forms part of an industry-wide push to build strong brand recognition for top-tier devices.

The report points out that talks about this shift have been going on within the company for a year now. During the CES 2024 event Lee Young hee, the Head of Global Marketing, at Samsung suggested that the Galaxy branding cover an array of devices. This potential adjustment is vital to help premium products distinguish themselves. Before putting this change into effect a number of factors will require consideration. However, it has the potential to bring about transformation for the company.
