According to some reports, Samsung is working on making a 600MP camera sensor which will be one of its kind in the current market. In April 2020, Yongin Park who is the Head of Sensor Business Team at Samsung wrote a blog. In this blog, he admitted that Samsung is innovating in the field of pixel technology to deliver image sensors that can capture much more than a human eye can capture. He further added that a human eye can match a resolution of around 500 MP.

“We as an industry still have a long way to go to be able to match human perception capabilities. Sensors that even go beyond human senses will soon become an integral part of our daily lives” – Yongin Park. From this, we can see that the pixel technology is set to enter into exciting times as the images might capture even those elements which are often missed by a human eye!

Being said that, increasing the megapixel is not an easy job at all. There will be a trade-off with other characteristics. A large number of megapixels will force Samsung to increase its size and reducing the size of individual megapixels will make the image dull.

This promising 600MP camera sensor consists of 0.8µm pixels and it will be 1/0.57″ big. Another trade-off for the company is that this sensor will take almost 12% of the total smartphone’s area. Thus, resulting in a 22mm bulge. What we have recently noticed that have a bulge at the back demotivates a customer. They fear that even one fall of their smartphone can lead to a crack in their camera. These are the negatives but on the other side, the user would be able to shoot 4K and 8K videos with more clarity when zooming. Earlier, the zoomed video failed to maintain quality. This will be changed with the advent of Samsung’s 600MP camera.
