In a significant move to enhance industry-academia collaboration, the Samsung R&D Institute in Noida (SRI-Noida) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). This partnership marks a pivotal step towards fostering innovation in artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and other critical technological domains.

A Five-Year Partnership for Innovation

The newly established five-year partnership aims to explore groundbreaking advancements in AI and digital health, among other emerging technologies. Through this MoU, SRI-Noida and IIT Bombay will engage in joint research projects, providing students and faculty at IIT Bombay with invaluable opportunities to collaborate directly with Samsung engineers. This collaboration not only enhances the academic experience but also significantly boosts the industry readiness of students, preparing them for the challenges of the modern workforce.

Empowering Engineers and Students Alike

As part of this initiative, Samsung engineers will benefit from specialized training and certification programs offered by IIT Bombay, focusing on cutting-edge fields such as digital health and AI. This reciprocal relationship ensures that both parties gain from the exchange of knowledge and expertise, ultimately driving innovation and technological advancement.

The MoU was officially signed by Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida, and Prof. Upendra V. Bhandarkar, Associate Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay. The signing ceremony, held at IIT Bombay, was attended by notable faculty members from the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), including Prof. Ranjith Padinhateeri, Head of KCDH, Prof. Nirmal Punjabi, and Dr. Raghavendran Lakshminarayanan.

Kyungyun Roo expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership represents a powerful blend of industry expertise and academic excellence, opening doors for pioneering research, innovation, and talent development.
