Sadio Mane will have a stadium named after him in Senegal after AFCON 2021 title

After winning Senegal’s first-ever AFCON trophy in their history, Sadio Mane has established himself as one of the greatest footballers in their history. 

He has now received a huge gift from the mayor of Sedhiou, the hometown of the Liverpool forward. Here is what Mane has received as a result of making the country proud.

Sadio Mane has stadium named after him 

‘Sadio Mane has honoured all of Senegal, the Sedhiou region and the entire Casamance area,’ Abdoulaye Diop said ‘I have decided to name the Sedhiou stadium after him. ‘In doing so I wish to convey the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of the region towards him.

The mayor of Sadio Mané’s hometown Sédhiou says that they will name a stadium after him following Senegal’s AFCON win 🏟️

‘He has made all of mankind aware of Bambali and Sedhiou, the region’s main town.

‘This is a gift that Sadio Mane truly deserves.’ 

The winger scored the winning penalty for his country in the AFCON final. He was also named the player of the tournament after Senegal won the tournament. The player is without a doubt one of the greatest African footballers to play in the Premier League as well as one of the highest goalscorers from the continent. 

The stadium that will be named after Mane is under construction and will be opened soon, with reports indicating a tentative date next year. 

Mane is now back in England and is with the Liverpool squad after celebrating with the trophy in the capital of the country.
