Sadio Mane has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Bayern Munich this summer. Reports have emerged in Germany about talks being held between Hasan Salihamidzic and Mane’s representatives in Majorca last Friday.
The player’s contract with Liverpool runs out in 2023, the same as Mohamed Salah. He currently earns less than €20 million per season, and contract talks between the two parties have not been ideal recently. As a result, he is exploring other options for his future.
Bayern Munich hold initial talks with Sadio Mane
The Senegal international could be Bayern’s statement signing of the summer, with Serge Gnabry looking to leave the club. The German winger’s contract expires in 2023, the same as Mane. Julian Nagelsmann has hinted that things are not easy right now, which could prompt a move away for him.
Sadio Mane is currently valued at €80 million, but due to his contract situation, the 30-year-old could be available at a much lower price than his market value. He would be a straight replacement for Gnabry, who plays a very similar role.
Liverpool have not made any indication that their number 10 could be leaving. Mane has been in great form recently, and has scored 21 goals in 47 appearances this season.
Talks between Liverpool and Bayern Munich have not yet started, but if Mane were to leave, the arrival of Darwin Nunez would become a much more concrete possibility for the Reds alongside a more prominent role for Luis Diaz.
