Cricket fans all over the world have a reason to rejoice as India’s cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, is all set to have a life-size statue erected at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where he played his final match for India. The statue will be unveiled on April 23, which is Tendulkar’s 50th birthday or during the 50-over World Cup later this year, according to cricket officials. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president, Amol Kale, confirmed the announcement and said that it would be the first statue at the Wankhede Stadium, and they will decide where to place it.

Sachin Tendulkar, fondly known as the ‘Master Blaster,’ represented India in 200 Test matches, 463 ODIs, and one T20. He holds the record for the most runs (34,357) and hundreds (100) in international cricket. Tendulkar’s journey started in Mumbai, under the tutelage of his childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar. He won the World Cup with India in 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium and played his landmark 200th Test against the West Indies in 2013 at the same ground.
