Ruturaj Gaikwad enters Top 10 of ICC Men’s T20I Rankings

Highly talented Indian current No.3 batter Ruturaj Gaikwad gained 13 places in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings to enter the top 10 to achieve career best spot, after a special knock of 77 runs off 47 balls in the 2nd T20I & a quick fire knock of 49 runs off 28 balls in the 3rd T20I, including 4 fours & 3 sixes in a comprehensive win of Indian team in the ongoing series against Zimbabwe. The CSK captain’s consistency has secured him a spot in the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. Gaikwad’s contribution in India’s wins was a reflection of his recent form. As a result, he has reached the 7th position in the ICC rankings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad enters top 10 of ICC Men’s T20I Rankings

The inclusion of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the top 10 of ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings made the Indian participation strong along with Surya Kumar Yadav. While Yashasvi Jaiswal slipped down to 11th spot in the rankings. The retirements of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have opened up the opportunities for young players to confirm their places in the T20I setup.

The ongoing 5 match T20I series against Zimbabwe has given a huge opportunity for the players like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh & Dhruv Jurel to showcase their talents. After that unfortunate loss in first T20I, team India made a superb comeback in the next two matches to go up 2-1 in the series. That 47 balls 100 of Abhishek Sharma, 77 not out of Gaikwad and a quick fire 48 not out of Rinku Singh gave Indian bowlers to defend 234 runs in 20 overs.

While leading the bowling chart, Avesh Khan took 3 wickets for 15 runs and Ravi Bishnoi took 2 wickets for just 11 runs and India completed a 100-run victory over Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20I. In the 3rd T20I, skipper Shubman Gill’s 66 runs along with quick fire 49 runs of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Washington Sundar’s 3 crucial wickets helped India to secure a 23-run win over Zimbabwe.
