The Russo Brothers produced The Electric State, a film adaptation of Simon Stålenhag’s novel set in an alternate 1990s after the world becomes preoccupied with virtualization and robots are illegal. Set against the backdrop of an orphan, a gunrunner, and a lost boy with Millie Bobby Brown sharing major screen space alongside Chris Pratt. More of a story about saving and bonding with one another while rebuilding an entire planet after it has been torn asunder.

Taking place after the uprising, it paints a picture of our society where robots no longer have equal rights and people are separated from their loved ones. A part where Millie Bobby Brown’s character found out her brother who she thought had died is actually a cyborg. Chris Pratt accompanies her on this perilous journey, making the excitement manifold. The cartoon-style robots make for some cool visuals that aid to film’s artistic endeavor.

The Electric State also stars Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, and Woody Norman; Anthony Mackie and fellow Humans co-star Harriet Walker will provide voices for the robotic characters. The screenplay is crafted by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
