Recently, the well-renowned Apple journalist Mark Gurman has recently stated that Apple has delayed the launch of its upcoming redesigned MacBook Air until late this year. Also, he stated that the Cupertino giant is in no hurry to update its current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

In this latest Power On newsletter, Gurman has stated that Apple has delayed the redesigned MacBook Air which will seemingly sport the new M2 chipset based on TSMC’s 4nm process. Apple did delay the launch of this highly-anticipated entry-level MacBook and its mass production is suspected to begin in the late second quarter or at the start of the third quarter.

MacBook Air - M2 chipset

Much like what happened in 2020, Gurman has said that the only MacBook Pro update that will likely be refreshed will be the entry-level MacBook Pro with a 13-inch display powered by the new M2‌ chip. Obviously, Apple has a number of devices in 2022 that will eventually bear this new M2 chip but the exact time frame cannot be confirmed.

So, it’s safe to say the Cupertino giant will use this M2 chipset on the new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, 24-inch iMac, and on an entry-level Mac mini. However, Apple could replicate the same timeline that it did from 2020, so the company looks to have a 2-year upgrade cycle for its M-series chips rather than a rumored 1 and a half year upgrade cycle.
