Ruben Amorim linked as Liverpool’s #1 choice after Alonso snub

Immediately after being snubbed by Xabi Alonso, Ruben Amorim has emerged as the number one option for Liverpool to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer. The Sporting CP manager is now reportedly leading the race to land the job, but nothing has been finalised between the two clubs as of yet.

There is a chance that Liverpool could go for Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi too, but Amorim has been rumoured as the preferred candidate now that Alonso has officially decided to stay with Leverkusen for the coming season.

Ruben Amorim emerges as favourite candidate for Liverpool

One of the reasons Amorim is being preferred is his ability to develop players. Not only are Liverpool turning to their academy players, but there is also the question of the team being restructured. After losing several top players and still being able to deliver good performances, Ruben Amorim might be the right candidate to lead Liverpool into the new era.

The Reds might miss out on the emotional connection with a Xabi Alonso. But Ruben Amorim could be the solution they need. It’s still a work in progress to see the 39-year-old making the move to the Premier League in the summer.

However, the Reds have time to weigh up other options before committing to a new coach.
