Vijayendra Prasad, the screenwriter of the acclaimed Oscar-winning film and also Rajamouli’s father, has officially announced the upcoming RRR sequel. Vijayendra has additionally verified that the sequel will feature the return of Telugu superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Nevertheless, RRR Sequel might not follow the same narrative. Instead, it is anticipated to delve into another chapter from the pre-Independence era of the Telugu states.
During an interview with a Telugu channel, Vijayendra expressed, “Our intentions are to create a sequel to RRR featuring Ram Charan and NTR. The film will be helmed either by SS Rajamouli or someone else under his guidance.”
Vijayendra also alluded to the potential scenario where Rajamouli might not direct the RRR sequel. Nonetheless, he affirmed that Rajamouli would still be involved in the project, overseeing it even if someone else takes the directorial reins.
After Rajamouli completes his upcoming project tentatively titled SSMB 29, featuring Mahesh Babu in an adventure film reminiscent of Indiana Jones, he is expected to focus on his ambitious 10-part franchise based on the Mahabharata. This commitment may limit his availability to direct the RRR sequel. Nevertheless, with Rajamouli’s continued involvement and Vijayendra Prasad handling the screenplay, the sequel holds great potential. Additionally, the return of Ram Charan and Jr NTR promises to recreate the captivating magic they brought to the first installment.
RRR is an originally Telugu film that gained popularity across various Indian languages through its Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam dubbed versions. The film featured renowned Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. One of the film’s songs, “Naatu Naatu,” composed by MM Keeravani, achieved global recognition and earned India its first Golden Globe and Academy Award in the Best Original Song category, captivating audiences with its energetic dance number.
